Piano Comedy Duo Return to Pitlochry

Piano recitals are given a modern makeover at Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Saturday 10 February, when the highly acclaimed International music and comedy duo, Katzenjammer, return to the theatre following their hugely successful debut last year.

With four hands on one piano, Katzenjammer are a duo with a difference. Both classically trained pianists and humorous song writers, Kevin Farrell and Steven Worbey have developed their own unique, virtuosic and acrobatic style of performing that has been described by Stephen Pettitt, The Times music critic as ‘both funny and spectacular’.

Great piano gymnastics combine with cheeky comic timing as they parody a whole range of musical styles while playing classical favourites, but all with a twist; thus ‘putting classical music in its place!’ The resulting tangle of hands and arms on their keyboard is projected onto a large screen so that the mesmerizing gymnastic display of their playing can be marvelled at.

Sell-Out

Katzenjammer’s combination of fast fingers, witty humour and obvious enthusiasm for live music and entertaining, has seen them perform to great critical acclaim at prestigious venues such as the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Royal Festival Hall in London, while their infectious and breathtaking ‘Four Hands On One Piano’ show has entertained sell-out audiences at UK festivals in Chichester, Cambridge, Buxton, Devizes, Corsham and Edinburgh.

Both pianists graduated from the Royal College of Music, and prior to forming Katzenjammer, Farrell wrote and composed music for theatre, television and film, while Worbey gave piano recitals and music concerts across the UK, acted in and was musical director of theatre shows and even voiced the role of Pod in the popular BBC children’s cartoon ‘Pod’s Mission’.

Since sharing a bottle of wine and a piano and forming Katzenjammer, the music and comedy duo have been busy sharing their breathtaking flights of piano work and amusing and witty delivery with appreciative audiences across the globe.

Tickets are £12.50 and are available from the Theatre Box Office on 01796 484626, or online: www.pitlochry.org.uk
