Outstanding Dancing Success

2006 has been a very busy and successful year for Jillian Kennedy, Lurgan Farm, Aberfeldy.
Dancing at events from Edinburgh to Inverness, and Oban to Aberdeen she has won 9 trophies between March and October, culminating in winning the Pre-Championship in the 11 years age group at the North of Scotland Championships in Inverness. In the four Highland dances, Jillian won three first places and one second place.
She also won the National dance section with three first places in the three dances and is pictured with these two trophies.

Pre-Championships are very important for a dancer as a “Pre” can only be won once by any one dancer before that dancer must move into the Championship section. In the other two Pre- Championships she competed in this year, Jillian finished 3rd in the United Kingdom Championship in Edinburgh, and runner-up in the Granite City Championships in Aberdeen.
Perthshire Highland Games Association ran a League for dancers again this year which was sponsored by Grandtully Estates (Shooting). Jillian won the League and Fiona Stevenson, Pitlochry, was runner-up. Both these dancers are members of the Perth & Kinross team which will compete in the Scottish Area finals to be held in Oban in April 2007.
Congratulations to all the dancers who entertained Highland Games this summer.
