Michael Marra Initiates Supper & Song Nights

The Courtyard eaterie at Kenmore will be stepping up a gear to showcase top-class music this summer with an attractive programme of artistes booked for a season of Supper & Song events.
The Courtyard brasserie and bar on Loch Tayside will be the venue for a star-studded line-up of acts, many from abroad while they are touring in the UK.
Lighting in the intimate surroundings of the Courtyard’s contemporary restaurant will be turned down to create the perfect atmosphere for well-known singer-songwriters, roots music bands and Americana, including some of the best bluegrass acts from USA.

Circuit Bookings
The project is the latest innovation from husband and wife team Jake and Kim Schamrel, who always intended to introduce regular music nights to add to the premises’ well-established attractions. They have tapped into an existing scene south of the Border where a string of venues has come together to create a circuit to book performers with serious pulling power to host supper nights where rustic fare is served up along with the sounds, for an all-inclusive ticket price.

They invited their faithful regulars to comment on the proposal and the response was an overwhelming “yes, please!”

Jake said: “We wanted to get away from the noisy pub band trend that most places are locked into. Also, these nights will be staged on midweek nights when people are more inclined to come out for a more gently-balanced experience.

“It was important to us to provide something which would be in keeping with our laid back atmosphere - presentations a little more sophisticated which will appeal to people who are looking for a really fine night out without the kind of blast of volume that so often spoils the occasion.

International
“We were fortunate to link up with one of the country’s best agencies, Brookfield-Knights, who specialise in acoustic music, with everything from bluegrass and Cajun to cream of the crop Celtic music, singer-songwriters and even classic old-time from the Appalachian Mountains”.
Kicking off the programme on Wednesday 30 May at 7.30pm will be the ever-popular Michael Marra. After that, there’s a host of great music in store, including The Hunger Mountain Boys and Darden Smith, both from America. The Courtyard will also be introducing Scottish traditional music sessions in the bar to give visitors as well as locals a true “taste of Scotland” experience.
“We will be publicising these events widely but all of the information will also be put up on the internet,” added Jake, “at www.thecourtyard-restaurant.co.uk website."

Tickets for the Michael Marra evening are £12.50 and are avaiable now from The Courtyard.
