Bagels at The Fiddle Tree

The Fiddle Tree’s April concert will be a very special evening, when Moishe’s Bagel brings incredible rip-roaring, foot-stomping, jazz-inflected klezmer and Balkan music to Birnam for the only Highland Perthshire stopover of the band’s UK Spring Tour.

Formed in Edinburgh in 2003, Moishe’s Bagel combines the energy and passion of Eastern European folk music with the excitement and soul of improvisation.

Boasting some of the best instrumentalists that Scotland has to offer (the line-up includes members of Salsa Celtica, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Celtic Feet, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra). They are equally at home jamming in a late night jazz den, grooving at a forest festival, or enthralling an upmarket concert hall.

Their music is described as ‘an intoxicating, life-affirming mix of Eastern European dance music, Middle Eastern rhythms and virtuoso performances.’

Moishe’s Bagel appear at the Birnam House Hotel on Wednesday, 18 April at 8.00pm. Tickets are £10 in advance, or £12 on the door. Under-18s’ tickets are £3 or 2 for £5 and they are available now from Birnam House Hotel (01350 727462), Birnam CD (01350 727158) and Zigzags, Dunkeld (01350 728666)

The Fiddle Tree’s event for May features arguably Ireland’s finest fiddler Frankie Gavin accompanied by the wonderful young multi-instrumentalist Tim Edey. This concert takes place on Thursday 17 May, also at the Birnam House Hotel with an 8.00pm start.
