Highland Perthshire A Capella Concerts by Young Singers

IMAGINE a concert where the 16th century madrigals of Josquin rub shoulders with the 20th century songs by Jack Johnson and Elton John; or the gracefully supple melody of 19th century Satie’s celebrated Gymnopedie sits alongside the rhythmic precision of scat jazz. Add to that alchemy five talented young singers, and a sure-fire winner of a concert is guaranteed.

Take Five is a group of pupils from The King’s School, Gloucester who perform without accompaniment in a wide variety of styles. Their ages range from 16 to 18 and they have taken their home town by storm when they have performed. Future engagements include concerts in Keble College, Oxford and at the Three Choirs Festival.

Derek Harris began his musical career as a chorister at Westminster Abbey. After graduating from the RCM Derek worked for a time at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He is now Director of Music at The King's School.

You can hear them perform on Monday 19 February at Aberfeldy Town Hall, Tuesday 20 February at the Duchess Anne Hall in Dunkeld, and on Wednesday 21 February at St Fillian's Kirk in Killin. All concerts begin at 7.30 and entry is free.

There will be a plate for donations to The Music Therapy Charity, which researches the benefits of music for disabled and disturbed children.
