Proms at the Palace - Performers Scoop
Their recent highlights have included Mozart and Tchaikovsky Galas and two concerts in Abu Dhabi for the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation under the patronage of HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Gardar Cortes Classical Crossover Hot on the heels of their 2006 success, the girls (pictured) have just re-released their debut album to include three new tracks, including Elgar’s ‘Nimrod’, specially chosen to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Elgar. They recently performed at the Classical Brits, where their debut album was nominated for album of the year. Proms at the Palace, which will be hosted by a celebrity Scottish compere, will be packed with well - known popular pieces and will include a stunning finale with a special appearance by a Pipe Band. Gerry Muldoon from organisers Event One Management said, ‘Proms at the Palace will undoubtedly be the classical event of the year in Scotland, offering the Scottish public the opportunity to see world class acts in a truly superb setting. We want to make this a real family evening and hope that people will bring their friends, pack a picnic and enjoy the most fabulous social event of the year!’ Glenn Allison, MD of the Stewart Milne Group said, ‘We are delighted to be supporting an event of this quality in such a unique setting and look forward to helping make Proms at the Palace a real highlight of the 2007 Scottish events calendar.’ ‘Proms at the Palace’ forms part of the Live at Scone Palace festival which takes place over three nights this summer, from 27– 29 July. The Perthshire event complements the successful ‘Live on the Lawn’ concert series at Crathes Castle on Royal Deeside, which has attracted top artists including Van Morrison, James Brown and Paul Weller since it was launched eight years ago. Other headline acts at Scone include Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra plus top rockers Status Quo. It is hoped that the festival can become established as an annual event in the Scottish calendar. Advance booking is essential. Doors will open at 5.30pm with entertainment commencing at 7.15pm. There will be a refreshment and champagne tent although ticket holders are welcome to bring their own picnics. Free parking will be available on-site.
