'Devilish' Twist to Hallowe'en
Scone Palace will be the venue for mischief-making and devilment this Hallowe’en when it launches a weekend of unique Hallowe’en events on 27/28 October, in association with Herald Events.
In ‘De’il Tak the Hindmost’, Dougal Murray, a dead Jacobite soldier, will take children from age 5 upwards on a tour of the grounds of Scone Palace and recount tales of the grisly goings-on that have happened there. But the Devil himself, Auld Nick, will be watching from afar and is sure not to miss the opportunity to step in and put his own case!
Then it’s off to The Old Kitchen where ‘A Tale O’ Twa Stanes’, a film about a Templar Knight who has stood guard over the real Stone of Destiny for more than seven hundred years will be shown, followed by dooking for apples and fun with treacle scones. |

Events will be rounded off in style with a Fancy Dress Parade with prizes and a Turnip Lantern Competition judged by Auld Nick himself! All of the events are suitable for ages 5+.
Tours will take place at 11am and 1pm each day, with the Fancy Dress Parade at 2.30pm and Turnip Lantern Competition at 4pm.
Heather McArthur, Events Manager at Scone Palace, told Comment: “We wanted to move away from the normal ‘trick or treat’ type of activities this year and give Hallowe’en a Scottish twist. ‘Deil Tak’ the Hindmost’ combines traditional ghost stories with good old fashioned devilish fun and we think it will appeal to children and parents alike who are looking for something a bit different”.
Tickets are £2.75 for children and £4 from Scone Palace, 01738 552300, visits@scone-palace.co.uk. Ticket price includes entry to the Fancy Dress Parade and Turnip Lantern Competition.
