'Craggy' Kreg at Kenmore
The popular ‘Supper & Song’ evenings continue at The Courtyard, Kenmore, on 29 August with a visit from a US songwriter being tipped for stardom both in America and Europe.
Minnesota-based Kreg Viesselman first made a big impression with his debut CD back in 1998. It was a coming together with legendary bluesman Taj Mahal that led him to reach for even greater heights. When he heard Kreg’s songs, he told him they were “great” and that provided the inspiration to take his music out into the world. |

British radio presenters such as Bob Harris and Iain Anderson have been singing his praises and many chose his stunning 2006-issued album “The Pull” as their fave rave last year. “The Pull” topped the Euro Americana Charts at the start of the year just as he landed a big support slot with Willie Nelson.
Kreg’s craggy vocals and writing style find him being compared to Ray Lamontagne. Some commentators believe he is bound for even greater stardom.
Acoustic magazine calls his music “enchanting”, while Britain’s leading roots music publication, Maverick, describes his performances as “dazzling”.
Viesselman is now in the UK to record a bunch of sessions for various radio shows.
Courtyard boss Jake Schamrel says he was delighted when Kreg accepted his invitation to perform at the intimate venue on Loch Tayside. “We had a full house for Michael Marra last time we staged one of these events and I am thrilled to be keeping the standard so high for the follow-up event,” he said.
